February 22 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government plans to start the construction of an expressway from Sabac to Loznica, in the country's north, in the third quarter of 2019, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic has said.
"The project, together with the construction of the Ruma-Sabac motorway, is of great importance for the entire Macva District. For more than a decade, this project has been talked about, but now we have a financing agreement with Azerbaijan, and we are completing the project documentation," Mihajlovic said, as quoted in a press release issued by the country's infrastructure ministry.
Azerbaijan's government decided to grant a 210 million euro ($238.3 million) loan to Serbia for the construction of a motorway and expressway linking Ruma to Loznica via Sabac, the ministry said in September.
The project envisages the construction of a 25 km-long motorway linking Ruma to Sabac and a 55 km-long Sabac-Loznica expressway.
