January 24 (SeeNews) - The construction of Serbia's centre for nuclear science and technology will start by the end of 2022, the minister without portfolio in charge of innovation, Nenad Popovic, said on Monday.
The construction of the centre will take up to five years, the minister said in an interview with a private TV broadcaster Prva.
In December, Serbia signed an agreement with Russia's state-owned company Rosatom, which will participate in the construction of the centre.
Rosatom said earlier that the nuclear centre will produce radioisotopes for medical and industrial purposes, doped silicon for various industries, as well as material composition tests of ores, minerals, and environmental samples.
