BELGRADE (Serbia), November 17 (SeeNews) – Serbia's infrastructure ministеr Zorana Mihajlovic said on Friday that she expects construction works on Fruskogorski Corridor road project will start next year.
Fruskogorski Corridor will link pan-European transport corridors X and IV on the territory of Serbia's northern autonomous region of Vojvodina.
Mihajlovic said, as quoted in a statement by the infrastructure ministry.
"The preparation of project documentation is nearing completion, and we plan to start the works next year; in the meantime, we will discuss the mode of financing of this project," Mihajlovic said during a meeting with Hungary's ambassador to Serbia, Attila Pinter, according to a press release issued by the infrastructure ministry.
In May, the infrastructure ministry said it has signed in Beijing two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for infrastructure works with a combined value of 2.5 billion euro ($2.95 billion).The contracts are related to the construction of the Preljina-Pozega and Pozega-Boljare stretches of a motorway which will connect Belgrade to the border with Montenegro, and Fruskogorski Corridor.
The cost of the Fruskogorski Corridor project is estimated at 400 million euro, the ministry said at the time.The Fruskogorski Corridor project represents an upgrade of the Novi Sad-Ruma section of IB-21 road.
