BELGRADE (Serbia), September 23 (SeeNews) – Serbian state-owned company Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije plans to relaunch traffic of trains on the Lapovo-Kragujevac railway line on October 1 after completing its 11 million euro ($12.1 million) overhaul, it said.
Trains between Kragujevac and Lapovo will be able to move at a speed of 100 km/h, and the capacity of the railway will be increased from the current 18 tonnes to 22.5 tonnes per axle, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said in an e-mailed statement on Sunday.
The reconstruction of the 27.5 km railway line, which also involved a 4 million euro additional investment in the rehabilitation of landslide aeras, was financed with Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije's own resources, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said earlier this month.
The company plans to start a project for the reconstruction of the 56.6 km Kragujevac-Kraljevo railway line in 2020.
