August 28 (SeeNews) - Serbia will provide 25 million euro ($28 million) to support the liquidity of Bosnia's Serb Republic budget by the end of 2019, Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite presidency, said.
Dodik held talks with Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic at the beginning of this week, which resulted in Serbia pledging 25 million euro to help the Serb Republic meet its obligations by the end of the year, Dodic said in an audio file published by Serbian news agency Tanjug on Tuesday.
"This is the biggest help we have ever received from Serbia," Dodik said.
He also said that Serbia has recently extended more than 32 million euro assistance to municipalities in the Serb Republic.
Dodik is the leader of the governing party in the Serb Republic - the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD.
In May, the Serb Republic government said it ended 2018 with a consolidated budget surplus of 145 million marka ($82 million/74 million euro).
Bosnia is made up of two autonomous entities, the Serb Republic and the Federation. The two parts have separate budgets, while the state-level government and institutions have their own budget.
However, Bosnia has not yet formed a state-level government following the October 2018 elections, therefore its institutions have been running on a provisional budget so far in 2019.
