BELGRADE (Serbia), December 12 (SeeNews) – Estonia's foreign minister Sven Mikser has said he expects Serbia to open three more chapters in the European Union (EU) membership negotiations in the short term.
Serbia will soon start talks on Chapter 9 - Financial Services, Chapter 13 - Fisheries, and Chapter 33 - Financial & Budgetary Provisions, the Serbian government quoted Mikser as saying in a statement late on Monday.
Estonia currently holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union. Serbia's neighbour Bulgaria will assume the six-month presidency on January 1 and the opening of the new chapters will be "at the fingertips" of Belgrade, Mikser said.
Earlier on Monday, the Serbia's government said it opened talks with the EU on Chapter 6 - Company Law, and Chapter 30 - External Relations.
Belgrade has so far started talks on ten out of the 35 chapters of EU law and has provisionally closed negotiations on two, namely Chapter 25 - Science & Research and Chapter 26 - Education & Culture.
