April 8 (SeeNews) - Serbia's state-owned company Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije plans to start a project for the reconstruction of the Jajinci - Mala Krsna railway line on May 15, it said.
The project will be carried out by a consortium of Serbian civil engineering company Energoprojekt [BEL:ENHL] and French sector player Colas Rail under a 39.2 million euro ($44 million) contract signed in December, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said in a statement on Friday.
Under the project, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije will reconstruct 68.8 km of rail tracks and will overhaul eight train stations, six train stops, three tunnels, and two bridges.
The reconstruction of the Jajinci - Mala Krsna rail line will allow to increase the maximum train speed to 120 km/h from 50 km/h, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije added.
Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije was established as a joint stock company in 2015 as part of a reorganisation programme implemented in railway operator Zeleznice Srbije which saw the uncoupling of the different sectors into separate companies.
