April 28 (SeeNews) - Serbia's foreign minister Ivica Dacic said the government is committed to keeping up its cooperation with Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor which contributes to the opening of jobs in his country.
The activity of Telenor in Serbia represents the largest foreign investment by a single company in the country, Dacic said during a meeting with senior managers of the Norwegian company in Oslo, according to a statement issued by the Serbian government on Thursday.
Dacic discussed with Telenor's corporate affairs manager Wenche Agerup and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Serbian unit of the company, Ingeborg Ofsthus, the promotion of the Nordic business model and the corporate responsibility for the overall social development in Serbia.
Telenor was the second biggest mobile operator in Serbia at the end of 2016, with a market share of 31%, according to data from the country's Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Ratel).
In January, Telenor said it plans to invest 30 million euro ($32.7 million) in the development of its network in Serbia in 2017, with focus on the expansion of its 4G network in towns with more than 3,500 inhabitants.
Elsewhere in Southeastern Europe (SEE), Telenor also operates in Bulgaria.
