BELGRADE (Serbia), August 26 (SeeNews) – Serbia plans to invest 93 million euro ($103.5 million) in the expansion of Smederevo river port, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic has said.
The direct investment of the government in the project will amount to 53 million euro, Mihajlovic said in a press release on Friday.
The government has invested 9.5 million euro in the construction of a 7.5 km-long railway that will link the port of Smederevo to European transport Corridor X which will be launched in the coming days, Mihajlovic added.
In November, the European Investment Bank (EIB) agreed to provide a 100 million euro loan to Serbia to improve navigation on the inland waterways along the Danube and Sava rivers.
