BELGRADE (Serbia), July 10 (SeeNews) – Serbia's government plans to invest 6.86 million euro ($8 million) in an overhaul of the factory of state-owned manufacturer of electro-mechanical and optico-mechanical devices Teleoptik-Ziroskopi in Zemun, the country's president Aleksandar Vucic said.
The company, which exports to Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is examining a project for the launch of production of optical products, Vucic said, according to a statement issued by the Serbian defence ministry last week.
Teleoptik-Ziroskopi's factory in Zemun, a suburb of Belgrade, hired 50 employees in the last five months and intends to open 100 more jobs in the short term, said the director of the company, Mladen Nastic.
The company aims to reduce its dependence on the import of optical products, Nastic added.
Teleoptik-Ziroskopi produces fire and missile control systems, gyroscopes, gun silencers and sniper rifle scopes.
