January 4 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government plans to invest 790 million dinars ($8.0 million/6.6 million euro) in the development of tourism infrastructure in 2018, trade and tourism minister Rasim Ljajic has said.
The government is currently studying potential projects that it could finance or co-finance, Ljajic said during a visit to the Divcibare ski resort, according to a statement issued by the trade and tourism ministry on Wednesday.
The ministry has already agreed to finance the construction of a tourist information centre in Divcibare, in order to make the resort a year-round tourist destination, Ljajic said.
"No other Serbian mountain resort possesses what Divcibare already has - Belgrade is just 118 km away and this advantage has to be used. That is why new investments are needed, which include state investments, primarily in infrastructure," he said.
Divcibare is the fourth largest Serbian ski resort after Zlatibor, Kopaonik and Tara.
