January 11 (SeeNews) - Serbia will invest 500 million euro ($566.9 million) in the country's low-voltage electric power distribution grid in the next couple of years, energy minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Tuesday.
Although the situation is stable, investing in the distribution system in the coming years is very important in order to ensure a reliable supply throughout the country, the energy minister said in a statement after a visit to state-run power distribution company Elektrodistribucija Srbije (EDS).
Mihajlovic warned that power losses cost Serbia around 200 million euro a year, adding that the modernisation of the distribution system is a must.
