September 21 (SeeNews) - Serbia plans to invest 1.05 billion euro ($1.2 billion) in the construction of a motorway on its territory linking Belgrade to Bosnian capital Sarajevo, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Friday.
The Serbian government signed a framework agreement with Turkish civil engineering company Tasyapi for the execution of three road projects in Serbia, including two sections of the motorway, Mihajlovic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug.
Under the framework agreement, contracts will be signed with Tasyapi for the overhaul of the Novi Pazar-Tutin road, worth 20 million euro, as well as for the construction of the 61 km-long Pozega-Kotroman and the 17.5 km-long Kuzmin-Sremska Raca sections of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway, worth 830 million euro and 210 million euro, respectively, Mihajlovic said.
The Turkish company will start working on the project documentation on the construction of the motorway sections, she added. Work will be completed by the end of next year.
Serbia's government said in May it signed a memorandum of understanding with Tasyapi for cooperation on road infrastructure projects, including the construction of the the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway on the Serbian territory.
