BELGRADE (Serbia), February 4 (SeeNews) – Serbia's government has approved a project for the construction of a motorway rather than an expressway to link Belgrade to Zrenjanin, in the country's north, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic has said.
The decision was made taking into account the economic development of the Banat District, where Zrenjanin is located, and the inflow of investment in it, Mihajlovic said on Friday, according to a statement issued by the infrastructure ministry.
In October, the China's Power Construction Corporation (Powerchina) has expressed interest in participating in the construction of a motorway linking the Serbian city of Nis with Pristina in Kosovo via Merdare and of expressways linking Belgrade to Zrenjanin and Iverak to Lajkovac.
