October 19 (SeeNews) - Serbia's energy minister Aleksandar Antic has said he expects the country to add 250 MW of new wind power capacity by the end of 2018.
Renewable energy sources should account for 27% of Serbia's total installed power capacity by 2020 and the launch of new wind farms contributes to achieving this goal, Antic said during a ceremony marking the completion of construction works on Malibunar wind farm, according to a statement issied by the ministry on Wednesday.

Currently, there are projects for construction of renewable energy plants with a total capacity of 500 MW in Serbia and most of them are wind farm projects, Antic said.
Antic said in August the total renewable energy capacity of Serbia will reach 600 MW in 2020 - 500 MW of wind power capacity and 100 MW of biomass and hydropower plants.
Under Chapter 27 - Environment of Serbia's EU accession talks, the country should invest between 700 million euro ($827 million) and 900 million euro to comply with the environmental requirements of the bloc.
