December 20 (SeeNews) - Serbia signed a 250 million euro ($285.8 million) commercial contract for the construction of the first section of a motorway connecting Belgrade to Bosnia's capital Sarajevo with Turkish civil engineering company Tasyapi, the Serbian infrastructure ministry said.
The financial agreement for the Sremska Raca- Kuzmin section of the motorway will be signed with Tasyapi next year and construction works are expected to begin in 2020, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
Under the terms of the commercial agreement, Tasyapi will be in charge of preparing the regulation plan and carrying out the construction works of the Sremska Raca-Kuzmin stretch, including the construction of a bridge on the Sava river, and will also prepare the project documentation of the second stretch of the motorway, linking Pozega to Kotroman, the ministry said.
Serbia's government said in May it signed a memorandum of understanding with Tasyapi for cooperation on road infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway on the Serbian territory.
