May 6 (SeeNews) - Serbia's budget was in a deficit of 72.1 billion dinars ($647.5 million/612.9 million euro) in the first three months of 2022, compared to a surplus of 24.4 billion dinars in the like period of 2021, official figures showed.
Primary budget deficit totalled 19.1 billion dinars, versus a 23.5 billion dinars primary budget deficit in January-March the year prior, according to data the finance ministry published on Thursday.
Total budget revenues went up by a real 17.5% on the year to 373.3 billion dinars in the period under review, while expenditure increased 30.5% to 445.3 billion dinars.
Tax revenues went up by a real 22.1% to 338.3 billion dinars, non-tax revenues rose by 3.9% to 33.3 billion dinars, and grants decreased from 5.3 billion dinars to 1.7 billion dinars.
Current expenditure rose by a real 29% year on year to reach 375.7 billion dinars, while capital expenditure went up by 29.5% to 61.9 billion dinars in the first three months of 2022.
In 2021, Serbia's budget balance showed a deficit of 286.1 billion dinars, compared to a deficit of 459.1 billion dinars in 2020.
