October 11 (SeeNews) - Serbia's budget recorded a deficit of 70.8 billion dinars ($697.3 million/602.2 million euro) in the first eight months of 2021, compared to a deficit of 344.6 billion dinars in the like period of 2020, official figures show.
Serbia recorded a primary budget surplus of 13.3 billion dinars, versus a 269.8 billion dinars primary budget deficit in January-August 2020, according to data published on the website of the finance ministry.
Total budget revenues went up by a real 18.1% on the year to 955.1 billion dinars in the period under review, while expenditure went down 11.0% to 1.026 trillion dinars.
Tax revenues went up by a real 18.5% to 848.6 billion dinars, non-tax revenues grew 12.5% to 97.4 billion dinars, and grants increased to 9.1 billion dinars from 5.8 billion dinars.
On the expenditure side, current expenditure fell by a real 18.8% to 839.6 billion dinars, while capital expenditure went up to 171.1 billion dinars from 92.5 billion dinars in January-August 2020.
Serbia's budget balance showed a deficit of 459.1 billion dinars in 2020, compared to a surplus of 12.8 billion dinars in the previous year.
