April 23 (SeeNews) - Serbia's European integration minister Jadranka Joksimovic has said the government is ready to open negotiations on five chapters of EU law at the Intergovernmental Accession Conference that will be held by the end of June.
Serbia is ready to open Chapter 33 - Financial & Budgetary Provisions, Chapter 9 - Financial Services, Chapter 13 - Fisheries, Chapter 18 - Statistics and Chapter 17 - Economic & Monetary Policy in its membership negotiations with the EU, Joksimovic said in a statement on Friday.
Probably, not all five chapters will be opened at the upcoming conference, but there are serious reasons for the launch of negotiations on more than two of them, Joksimovic said.
The government has sent its negotiating positions to Brussels and is preparing for talks on other chapters too.
The EU opened accession negotiations with Serbia in January 2014. The country has so far started talks on 10 out of the 35 chapters of EU law and has provisionally closed negotiations on two, namely Chapter 25 - Science & Research and Chapter 26 - Education & Culture.
