- Italy’s Fiat will invest 100 million euro in its joint venture with Serbia, Fiat Automobili Srbija (FAS) by the end of this year, Serbian President Boris Tadic said, adding that Serbia will sign an annex to its contract with the automaker for the forming of a joint venture on Wednesday. FAS will produce two car models and about 200,000 units annually, Tadic added.
- Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor will invest about 3.0 billion dinars towards infrastructure and services development in its Serbian unit next year, Telenor Serbia CEO Kjell Morten Johnsen said. Telenor Serbia invests about 10% of its annual revenue of some 30 billion dinars in capital investments, Johnsen said.
- Serbia should change its economic growth model, economist with Serbian think tank CEVES, Dusko Vasiljevic, said. Seventy-five percent of the country’s growth between 2002 and 2008 was contributed by just four sectors: financial services, retail and wholesale, transport and telecommunications.
