July 5 (SeeNews) - The presidents of Serbia and Kosovo have agreed to work on starting a new phase of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for normalisation of relations and reconciliation, the European Union office in Kosovo said.
Earlier this week, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini hosted an informal meeting in Brussels with the presidents Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia and Hashim Thaci of Kosovo, and confirmed the commitment of the EU for the European perspective of the whole Western Balkans, the EU office in Kosovo said in a statement.
They "stressed the importance of the implementation of the agreements reached in the dialogue without delay," according to the statement.
Mogherini is due to continue discussions on relations in the Western Balkans and the countries' path to EU membership on July 12, at the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste, which will also be attended by a strong EU delegation.
Last week, Mogherini attended the summit of the South-East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Her attendance at the summit was a demonstration of the relevance the EU and all the Member States attach to the stability of the region and economic cooperation between countries of the region, the EU said.
The process of regional cooperation and enlargement "is extremely important for us. We have common challenges [and] we have common opportunities", said Mogherini.
The prime ministers of the 6 Western Balkan countries are due to meet in Trieste on July 12, where topics ranging from security to economy will be discussed.
