BELGRADE (Serbia), August 26 (SeeNews) – Serbia has become the 73th member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the country’s finance ministry has said.
By joining the bank, Serbia gains access to favourable credit funds for the implementation of priority projects, finance minister Sinisa Mali said, according to a statement by the finance ministry last week.
The membership application of Serbia was approved by the AIIB board of governors in December.
The board of governors of AIIB also confirmed Greece as the 74th member of the bank, the Serbian finance ministry said last week.
Beijing-headquartered AIIB is a multilateral development bank which began operations in January 2016 with the aim of investing in sustainable infrastructure.
