June 18 (SeeNews) - The value of Serbia's new investment cycle into road infrastructure is worth some 5 billion euro ($5.8 billion), infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said.
The new investment cycle, among others, includes the construction of the Fruska Gora and Moravian corridors, the Nis-Merdare-Pristina motorway, as well as the motorway and expressway project connecting Ruma, Sabac and Loznica, Mihajlovic said in a statement issued over the weekend.
She noted that the value of the investment projects currently being implemented is close to 16 billion euro.
For the Fruska Gora corridor Serbia has already completed the documentation for three sections of the motorway, and signed a memorandum with China Communications Construction Co, with talks on the commercial contract due to begin this week.
Works on the 400 million euro project are expected to begin between March and May next year, Mihajlovic said.
She added that the sections on the pan-European Corridor XI in Serbia between Obrenovac and Ljig will be open to traffic in September or October, while by March 2019 the construction of the 450 million euro Preljina-Pozega section will be launched.
The Preljina-Pozega motorway is part of pan-European Corridor XI - a motorway corridor linking Italy's Bari to Romania's Bucharest via Montenegro's Bar port and Serbia's Belgrade.
