BELGRADE (Serbia), March 27 (SeeNews) – Works on the China-funded overhaul of the Serbian railway line linking Belgrade with Hungary's capital Budapest are making good progress despite the coronavirus crisis, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Friday.
"Construction works are most active on the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway. We are [also] working on the Morava Corridor and other motorways," Mihajlovic said in a statement by the infrastructure ministry.
About 1,800 workers are employed at the eight largest construction sites in Serbia, Mihajlovic also said.
In November 2017, Serbia started modernising the section of the railway line linking Belgrade to Budapest on its territory. The overhaul represents the first cross-border project carried out by Serbia, Hungary and China in the framework of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) cooperation initiative.
