October 11 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government expects to open 10,000 jobs through its joint project with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for the construction of an industrial park in Belgrade, the minister without portfolio in charge of innovation Nenad Popovic said on Wednesday.
The project gives a chance to keep young engineers in Serbia and accelerate the economic and technological development of the country, Popovic said during a visit to the Suzhou industrial park in China, according to a government press release.
Belgrade will become a smart industrialisation centre which will facilitate the development of nanotechnology, biotechnology and the application of innovations and IT systems in the industry, Popovic said.
The Belgrade industrial park project envisages the construction of green buildings which will be ecologically and economically efficient, he added.
The government said on Tuesday it plans to invest some 300 million euro ($353.8 million) in the construction of the industrial park in Belgrade together with CRBC.
Construction works are expected to begin in 2018 and to be financed by theExport-Import Bank of China, China Construction Bank and China Development Bank, Popovic said earlier this week.
