August 10 (SeeNews) - Serbia expects to welcome three million tourists this year, trade and tourism minister Rasim Ljajic has said.
The number of tourists staying in Serbia rose by 13% to 2,753,591 last year, data from the country's statistical office shows.
The income from tourism services in Serbia will reach 1.2 billion euro in 2017, Ljajic said, according to a press release issued by the Serbian government on Wednesday.
The number of foreign tourists in Serbia is expected to keep rising, boosted by the higher number of citizens from countries with which Serbia has a visa-free regime, Ljajic said.
In the first six months of 2017, the total number of foreign tourist arrivals rose 17.5% year-on-year to 634,353. The total number of tourists in Serbia in the period went up 11.6% to 1,410,781.
