BELGRADE (Serbia), July 1 (SeeNews) - Serbia expects to harvest 2.41 million tonnes of wheat in 2019, down 18.1% year-on-year, the statistical office said on Monday.

The harvested area is expected to total 582,636 hectares, down from 648,083 hectares last year, the statistical office said in a statement.

Agriculture minister Branislav Nedimovic said last week that the government expects a wheat output of 2.7 million tonnes this year, with around 1.0 million tonnes of it to be exported. Nedimovic told the Serbian parliament he expects wheat yield of 4.7-4.8 tonnes per hectare.

Serbia harvested 2.942 million tonnes of wheat in 2018, up 29.3%, according to official statistics.
