November 23 (SeeNews) - Serbia is considering the construction of a nuclear power plant in cooperation with Russia's Rosatom as nuclear power could be brought to the European Union's green finance taxonomy, President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday.
"Now we are considering the issue of nuclear power plants, we are considering a lot of issues together with Rosatom," Vucic said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov.
The largest obstacle before the construction of a nuclear power plant in Serbia is of a financial nature, Vucic said in an interview for the Solovyov Live talk show.
"Large nuclear power plants cost over 10 billion euro ($11.3 billion), but we have agreed that our national debt should always be lower than 60% of our gross domestic product," he noted.
Earlier this month, Vucic said Serbia has proposed to acquire a 15% stake in Hungary's Paks nuclear power plant (NPP).
