BELGRADE (Serbia), April 25 (SeeNews) – Serbia's government has signed a cooperation agreement with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for the construction of the Fruskogorski Corridor road, the infrastructure ministry said.
The agreement will allow Serbia and CRBC to continue their cooperation in the preparation and execution of the road construction project, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The deal was signed by Serbian infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic on the sidelines of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.
The Fruskogorski Corridor project represents an upgrade of the Novi Sad-Ruma section of IB-21 road. It will link European transport corridors X and IV on the territory of Serbia's northern autonomous region of Vojvodina.
In May 2017, the infrastructure ministry said it has signed in Beijing two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with CRBC for infrastructure works worth a total of 2.5 billion euro ($2.8 billion). The MoUs are related to the construction of the Preljina-Pozega and Pozega-Boljare sections of a motorway which will connect Belgrade to the border with Montenegro, and Fruskogorski Corridor.
The cost of the Fruskogorski Corridor project is estimated at 400 million euro ($445.8 million), the ministry said at the time.
