June 1 (SeeNews) - Serbia signed a $3.3 million (3.1 million euro) deal with the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) for the design and construction of the Jakovo interchange on the New Belgrade - Surcin motorway section, the infrastructure ministry said.
Construction work will begin next week, as the interchange is expected to be completed by the end of the year, the ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.
The New Belgrade - Surcin and the Surcin - Obrenovac sections will link the city of Belgrade with the Milos Veliki motorway, which is under construction.
The 258-kilometre Milos Veliki motorway will connect Belgrade with Cacak and Pozega in the south, from where it will run south to the Montenegrin border and west towards the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The motorway is part of European transport Corridor XI, linking Bari in Italy, Bar in Montenegro, the Serbian capital Belgrade and the Romanian capital Bucharest.
