May 24 (SeeNews) - Serbia's infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Thursday she expects the government to sign a contract with China for the overhaul of a section of the railway line connecting Belgrade to Hungary's capital Budapest during the 16+1 summit in July.
A total of 934 million euro ($1.094 billion) will be invested in the overhaul of the section and the contract is expected to be officially signed during the seventh summit of heads of government of China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC), also known as the 16+1 format, Mihajlovic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug.
"In any case, the signing of the contract is a matter of weeks," Mihajlovic said.
Serbia's government said in November it launched the project for the overhaul of the Belgrade-Stara Pazova section of the Belgrade-Budapest railway line. It is the first cross-border project carried out by Serbia, Hungary and China in the framework of the 16+1 mechanism.
