March 4 (SeeNews) - Serbia will hold regular general and local elections on April 26, the government said on Wednesday.
President Aleksandar Vucic has signed the decree setting the date for the vote for members of parliament, the government said in a statement.
"I wish success to all participants, but above all I would like the entire campaign to be held in democratic atmosphere, political opponents to respect each other, and come up with different views and arguments," Vucic said in a separate statement on Wednesday.
Parliament speaker Maja Gojkovic signed the decree for the holding of local elections earlier on Wednesday, the government said.
A coalition led by populist conservative SNS party won 131 of 250 seats in Serbia's parliament in the early general election held on April 24, 2016. The coalition government of prime minister Ana Brnabic is supported by 165 members of parliament.
