January 11 (SeeNews) - Serbia attracted 3.9 billion euro ($4.4 billion) of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2021, prime minister Ana Brnabic said on Tuesday.
Foreign investors opened production plants in Zrenjanin, Indjija, Backa Topola, Belgrade, Aleksinac and Subotica last year, creating a total of 12,490 jobs, Brnabic said in a press release.
Last year, president Aleksandar Vucic said Serbia had attracted 2.9 billion euro of FDI in 2020, or about 63% of total FDI in the Western Balkans.
Serbia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by a real 7.5% year-on-year in 2021, after a 0.9% decline in 2020, the country's statistical office said earlier this month.
