February 21 (SeeNews) - Serbia aims to rank among the top 20 countries in the World Bank Group’s ease of doing business ranking by 2020, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said.
Serbia invites all big companies to invest in order to develop the economy and increase the living standards of its citizens, Mihajlovic said, as quoted in a statement by the government on Monday.
Serbia's construction industry generates 5.1% of the country's GDP and the government aims to raise that share to 7% in the next two years, Mihajlovic said.
In October, the World Bank said that Serbia climbed to the 47th position in its "Doing Business 2017: Equal Opportunity for All" report on the back of the business reforms implemented by the country and the simplification of the procedures for starting a business, dealing with construction permits, and registering property.
Serbia ranks among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of improving their business environment in three or more areas in 2015/2016, the World Bank said at the time.
