September 12 (SeeNews) - French energy management and automation corporation Schneider Electric said on Monday that it has kicked off a 60 million euro ($60.9 million) project to expand its smart factory in Plovdiv, in southern Bulgaria, which will raise the factory's production capacity by 30% and make it independent of natural gas.
As part of the project, Schneider will launch three new production lines for automatic circuit breakers and will build an innovative system for geothermal energy, the company said in a statement on Monday.
The expansion, first announced in June, will create a hundred jobs by mid-2023.
Schneider Electric, which has been present in Bulgaria since 1990, formed its local subsidiary in 1998. The company opened the Plovdiv facility in 2007, following an investment of 22 million euro.
