August 25 (SeeNews) - Macedonian Sardic MC on Thursday held a ground breaking ceremony for a cathode copper mine complex worth a total 35 million euro ($39.5 million), the country's former prime minister and leader of the ruling VMRO DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski said.
The Kazandol mine will open 250 new jobs, Gruevski said in a Facebook post.
Additionally, 150 workers will be engaged in the construction works, he added.
The Kazandol copper mine complex is the first phase of a four-year concession contract signed in February, 2015 between the country's economy ministry and the company with British-Ukrainian capital. Back then the company said it plans to invest a total of 250 million euro in Kazandol. The company has expressed interest in building two more facilities, for which currently it is conducting feasibility studies.
