December 11 (SeeNews) - Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair said on Wednesday it will open next summer a base in Croatia's Zadar and launch 11 new routes from the Adriatic town next year.
The base will be operated by its subsidiary, Austrian low fare air carrier Lauda, Ryanair told SeeNews in an emailed statement.
Lauda will base three aircraft in Zadar, which is an investment of $300 million (270.4 million euro), and create 90 jobs within the company, Ryanair said.
Ryanair also announced its Zadar 2020 summer season schedule, with 31 routes in total, including 11 new lines - to Aarhus, Bremen, Cork, Paris Beauvais, Gdansk, Kaunas, Liverpool, Maastricht, Riga, Toulouse, and Wroclaw.
The new base should bring 672,000 passengers per year and provide more than 500 jobs at Zadar airport.
Founded in March 2018, Lauda currently operates a fleet of 23 aircraft at four bases - Vienna, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf and Palma de Mallorca.
The Austrian airline offers flights to over 90 destinations in 29 countries.
