March 28 (SeeNews) - Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair said it has opened its second base in Bulgaria, in the coastal city of Burgas, following an investment of $100 million (80.7 million euro).
"We are pleased to open our new Burgas base, with 1 based aircraft (an investment of $100m), and 11 new routes, which will deliver 250,000 customers p.a. and support 187 jobs at Burgas Airport," Olga Pawlonka, Ryanair’s sales and marketing manager, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The 11 routes, part of Ryanair's Burgas summer schedule, will connect the city to Bratislava, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt Hahn, Krakow, Kaunas, Memmingen, Milan, Riga, Rzeszow, Tel Aviv and Warsaw.
"These routes will directly benefit the local tourism and accelerate Burgas’ connectivity with the rest of Europe. It is obvious that the new base is a true asset for the economic development of the region," said Ulrich Heppe, CEO of Burgas Airport operator - Fraport Twin Star Airport Management.
