May 18 (SeeNews) - Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair said on Thursday it launched a new route, from Zagreb to the Greek island of Kos.
“As Europe’s biggest airline, Ryanair is delighted to celebrate the launch of our biggest ever Zagreb Summer schedule for 2023, offering 27 exciting routes including one new route to Kos,” Ryanair director of marketing, Dara Brady, said in a press release.
Ryanair will operate over 168 weekly flights from Zagreb in the summer of 2023, a 20% growth compared to the last summer.
This new schedule is underpinned by Ryanair’s commitment to Zagreb, basing 3 aircraft at Zagreb Airport - a $300 million euro (324 million euro) investment, and supporting over 900 jobs including 90 direct jobs as well as carrying over 330,580 passengers to and from Zagreb airport between January and April 2023, a third of all passengers at Zagreb Airport in the same period, further driving the airport’s traffic recovery and record growth post-Covid, Brady added.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
