March 30 (SeeNews) - Russian railway infrastructure engineering company RZD International has completed the construction of a viaduct near Beska station of the Belgrade-Budapest line in Serbia, the company said.
The viaduct, part of the Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section, intersects the Maradik-Beshka road, RZD International said in a statement last week.
The span structures of the viaduct, with a total weight of more than 2,000 tonnes, were designed and manufactured in Russia, RZD International said.
The Belgrade-Budapest line will be the first railway in Serbia for train speed of up to 200 km/h. The Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section will be put into operation after the completion of all works and tests of infrastructure facilities scheduled for this fall.
In October 2019, Serbia's government signed a contract to receive a 172.5 million euro ($202 million) loan from Russia for three railway overhaul projects. The loan will be used to finance the overhaul of sections with a total length of 209.8 km of the railway line linking Belgrade to the border with Montenegro, the construction of power infrastructure at the Stara Pazova-Novi Sad section, as well as the creation of an Integrated Traffic Control Centre (ITTC).
