March 25 (SeeNews) - Russia's Transmashholding said that its unit Metrovagonmash has signed an additional agreement to overhaul 40 subway cars for the Sofia subway operator - Metropoliten.
Last month, Metrovagonmash completed the overhaul of eight such subway cars for Metropoliten under the main contract, signed in December 2018, which led to the signing of the additional agreement for 40 more subway cars in March, Transmashholding said in a statement on Tuesday.
The 40 subway cars will be overhauled within three years, with 12 cars to be overhauled in each of the first two years, and 16 cars in the third.
The overhaul will allow the extension of the subway cars' exploitation life by 15 years.
The Sofia subway operator currently uses 168 cars produced by Metrovagonmash.
