March 27 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian municipality of Ruse said it launched the construction of a 34.38 million levs ($18.9 million/17.58 million euro) plant for anaerobic processing of biodegradable waste.
The sum includes funding of 21.8 million levs from the European Regional Development Fund, national co-funding of 3.85 million levs, own contribution of 3.05 million levs and ineligible expenses of 5.68 million levs, the municipal government said in a statement last week.
The project will be implemented by the Biogas Ruse 2021 consortium consisting of Bulgarian power plant equipment maintenance company Atomenergoremont [BUL:ATOM] and local consulting services provider Eko Aqua Systems.
The project envisages the construction and the commissioning of a plant which will enable the oxygen-free treatment of biodegradable waste, resulting in compost and methane for generation of electricity and heat.
The project has to be completed by the end of 2023.
