November 11 (SeeNews) - Romanian freight forwarder Transport Trade Services [BSE:TTS] said on Friday it has started operating a second logistics line dedicated to Ukrainian grain exports, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company – UDP.
This second line will operate in parallel with the logistics chain established by TTS at the beginning of July, through which more than 180,000 tonnes of Ukrainian grain have been transported, TTS said in a statement filed with the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB.
As part of the cooperation agreed with the Ukrainian partners in October, TTS provides port operation services for goods carried by UDP with its own fleet, and direct transshipment of goods allowing UDP convoys to avoid long waiting queues in the Black Sea port of Constanta.
TTS inaugurated a logistics project dedicated to Ukrainian exports in July, with the aim of ensuring a significant increase of Ukrainian freight flows from Reni and Ismail ports via the Danube-Black Sea canal to Constanta port. This is possible by using the TTS buoy terminal in the inner harbour of the port of Constanta, where goods are transshipped directly from barges to seagoing vessels using floating cranes, TTS said at the time.
TTS, founded in 1997, is the parent company of TTS Group, a provider of integrated logistics services on the Danube. The group is active in nine countries in freight forwarding, inland waterway transport, port operations, as well as other related activities, covering over 100 ports and port terminals.
As at 1622 CET on Friday, TTS shares traded 3.28% higher at 10.7 lei ($2.25/2.19 euro) on the BVB.
