September 20 (SeeNews) - Romanian power grid operator Transelectrica [BSE:TEL] said it has appointed Claudia Gina Anastase as CEO.
Transelectrica dismissed Marius Danut Carasol from the position of CEO, it said in a press release on Thursday.
The decision came after local media reported that Carasol had allegedly never completed his university studies and faked his engineer university degree. Carasol was appointed in the top position at Translectrica at the end of 2018.
According to her CV posted on Transelectrica's website, Claudia Gina Anastase is an economist with over 20 years of experience. Since 2012, she has been serving as a regional manager at Transelectrica subsidiary in Cluj-Napoca.
Transelectrica's net profit surged to 89 million lei ($21 million/19 million euro) in 2018, from 28 million lei in 2017.
The Romanian finance ministry owns some 59% of Transelectrica.
Transelectrica shares traded 0.48% higher at 21.1 lei as at 0940 CET on Friday.
