February 9 (SeeNews) - Romania's trade gap widened by 2.3 billion euro ($2.56 billion) to an estimated 8.36 billion euro in 2015, the country's statistics office, INS, said on Monday.
Exports rose by 4.1% and imports increased by 7.6% in 2015, INS said in a statement.
The European Union absorbed 73.7% of Romania's exports in the period under review, while accounting for 77.2% of its imports.
Machinery and transport equipment accounted for 44.5% of exports and 37.3% of imports, and other manufactured goods generated with 32.8% for export and 31.0% for import.
In December alone, exports fell by a monthly 17% with imports decreased by 7.5% month-on-month.
In 2014, Romania's trade gap widened 5.9% to an estimated 6.05 billion euro.
