February 9 (SeeNews) - Romania's trade gap widened to 12.96 billion euro ($15.8 billion) in 2017 from 9.972 billion euro in the previous year, as imports grew faster than exports, the office of national statistics, INS, said on Friday.
Exports rose by 9.1%, while imports grew 12.2% in 2017, INS said in a statement.
Machinery and transport equipment contributed 46.4% of total exports and 37.3% of imports, while other manufactured goods made up 33.2% of exports and 30.9% of imports.
The European Union was Romania's main trading partner in 2016, providing 75.8% of both total exports and imports.
