June 9 (SeeNews) - Romania’s trade deficit decreased by 1.17 billion euro year-on-year in the first four months of 2023 to an estimated 8.857 billion euro ($9.54 billion), the statistical office, INS, said.
Exports FOB increased by an annual 7.4% to 31.946 billion euro in the four months through April, while imports CIF rose by 2.4% to 39.904 billion euro, INS said in a statement on Friday.
In April alone, exports increased by 4.9% on the year to 7.228 billion euro, whereas imports fell by 4.5% to 9.288 billion euro.
The European Union absorbed 73% of Romania’s exports in the review period, and accounted for 73.6% of the country’s imports.
Machinery and transport equipment represented 45% of Romania’s exports and 36% of imports, while other manufactured goods made up 13% of exports and 10.7% of imports in the first four months of 2023.
