April 11 (SeeNews) - Romania's trade deficit rose by 1.5 billion euro year-on-year in the first two months of 2022 to an estimated 4.58 billion euro ($4.98 billion), the country's statistical office, INS, said on Monday.
Exports rose by an annual 23.4% and imports increased by 28.9% on the year in January-February, INS said in a statement.
The European Union absorbed 72.5% of Romania's exports in the period under review, and accounted for 70.6% of the country's imports.
Machinery and transport equipment accounted for 43.2% of Romanian exports and 32.8% of imports, while other manufactured goods made up 31.6% of exports and 329.1% of imports during the first two months of 2022.
Romania's trade gap widened by 29% on the year to an estimated 23.7 billion euro in 2021.
