March 18 (SeeNews) - Romania's tax authority said it has blocked the bank accounts of the representative office of Russian flag carrier Aeroflot in the country as part of sanctions imposed at the EU level on Russia over the invasion of Ukraine.
The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) has blocked three bank accounts of Aeroflot's representative office in Romania indirectly controlled by Vitaly Gennadyevich Savelyev, Igorevich Poluboyarinov and Sergey Viktorovich Chemezov, ANAF said in its decision published in the Official Gazette on Thursday.
The three businessmen are members of the management board of Aeroflot and are on the list of Russian officials on which the EU has imposed sanctions following the Russian assault on Ukraine.
On March 15, the European Union announced that the list of sanctioned persons and entities has been further extended to include more oligarchs and business people linked to the Kremlin, as well as companies active in the military and defence areas which are logistically and materially supporting the invasion.
Starting March 8, Aeroflot halted all of its international flights, except those to and from Belarus, after EU member states including Romania closed their airspace to Russian aircraft.
