April 11 (SeeNews) - Romanian label and packaging printing company Rottaprint recorded a 10% increase in demand for labels for staple foods in 2021, the company said on Monday.
“Among the trends which have marked 2022, what already stands out is an increase in orders for staple household products as a result of inflation,” Rottaprint general director Cristi Nechita-Rotta said in a press release.
According to Rottaprint, the rise in prices of raw materials over the past year as a result of energy price increase and the impact of the pandemic on supply chains has affected supplies of paper, aluminium and components of finishing plastics, extending several-day deliveries to months.
Rottaprint was founded in 1991 and currently operates two logistics centres in Romania, as well as two international ones - in Germany and Hungary - all staffed by a total of 280 employees.
The company previously announced it was planning to invest 1 million euro ($1.3 million) in its operations in 2022, having already invested 1.5 million euro in renewing equipment, product optimisation, and minimising its environmental impact last year.
Rottaprint posted a turnover of 26.2 million euro in 2021, up 5% on the year, it said earlier.
The company booked a profit of 6.4 million Romanian lei ($1.41 million/1.29 million euro) in 2020, according to finance ministry data.
